I saw this question on another forum, but wasn't sure of the answer.
If you have a motherboard that has USB 2.0 ports, and you install Windows 98 SE and the motherboard drivers, icluding the latest USB Controller, will the USB 2.0 ports function in USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 mode?
Thanks,
Eric,

My USB2-pc card worked on 98se, but it works better on a newer laptop with XP. I used to get some strange lockups with it in 98. Not sure, though, if it was the laptop computer. CompUSA fried that laptop (on warranty) after 3 months of d*ckin it and me around and the one I have now with XP is 2 years newer. ;)

usb2 works fine on win98. you just gotta install the driver, since win98 probably doesn't have one. I had to install usb2 cards on some old Dell GX1s because they wanted to share an external cdrw drive. I think it would have been cheaper to just get 2 internal drives, but the customer is always right. (even when they're totally wrong. )

Slight, but important, correction - USB 2.0 is supported in Win98SE - not Win98. Also, the latest Intel and VIA USB 2.0 controllers are not supported in any version of Win98.
Your USB 2.0 controllers will function in either mode, depending on the device attached. Look at them as a combo chip with both 2.0 and 1.1 embedded. Signals and data are routed according to device.
Yah - laptop USB 2.0 is fooked due to power issues. Many angry people out there... :(
