I'd like to download a free version of LInux for my computer. I used to have a version called WinLinux 2000, that used the KDE environment. But that no longer is free.

any help would be appreciated

Visit www.linux.org (http://www.linux.org) and you will find links to several versions of linux. Personally I enjoy Mandrake. http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/

Download about any flavor you like and burn the ISO image to disk.

I don't have a CD Burner sop I can't use randy's suggestion...and another prob.

I haven't used FTP in a long time so I don't know how to use it.
I thought to look for a setup file, but I couldn't find one, basically I'm going about this the wrong way

I need help with navigating an FTP site...

Jad...Download the ISO and then use an app called ISO buster to convert to regular files and just copy them to a 2nd hd or another partition

Most ISO's can be extracted with winimiage from www.winimage.com (http://www.winimage.com)

This is a school-owned computer, I can't partition the C drive, and there are no other hard drives. So unless there's some software I can use that can make a virtual partition (not FDISK), I would have to put Linux on the same drive as Windows.

It would be great if there were a FREE version of linux that could run from within Windows, like WinLinux 2000 could.

Any other suggestions>?

It's not real Linux but it will install in Windows

winlinux's server seems to be constantly busy...I can't download their software.

Anybody else know any free Linux sites, from which I can download the Linux OS??
