Good short read on being cautious about fictious benchmarks, and how its happening, and some examples of fake benchs (77Ghz CPU's, 80000 3DMarks, 17Ghz FSB's, all kindsa wierd junk).
LOL. That doesn't surprise me one bit. I think anyone with a half-decent image editor can make a cheat-benchmark....The part that surprises me is WHY they do it.

Yeah I didnt get it either, how could ya benefit from sayin ya have a 12800mhz processor? Id be happy to share a substantial OC success but thats rediculous...

Its pretty lame if you ask me, but its also sorta funny http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
I know we would all like to have a computer that fast, but its sorta obvious that you're cheating if your computer is saying that it has a 77GHz CPU in it, even an elementary user can see through a blatient lie like that. And as for scores of 60000 on 3DMark 2000, umm... not going to happen on any of todays system, its obvious.
But it makes you wish you had a computer that was that fast. 3DMark2001? No problem! I run it at 2048*1536 with 32-bit color and all the other fancy stuff at 327 frames a second. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I think it comes from the very primitve human need (noet: in some people only) to brag and do as if.
Its kinds funny though,

I don't understand why people want to fake there scores maybe they just find it fun.
To an overclocker the scores mean everything you are proud of your real scores and always finding ways to get them higher

Yeah, what is there to brag about a cheated score?
But it would make a good April fools joke next year. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

They're kind of like benchmark bullies. They think they are better and try to put you down with they're fake scores, and for you to think that they are "cool" and 'good" at overclocking. It sound's like it's working.

What I find more interesting than why they do it, is how it is done. I would have never correlated the infamous Halflife speed cheat.
Maybe its just me...

I wonder if they even have one of those computers, or a computer at all! They could of grabbed some graphic of the net and modified it at work or home on their Winchip http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Maybe they're just jealous of people who achieve REAL overclocks because they have **** hardware or can't do it themselves.
Hey remember, I have overclocked a Winchip! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif Now that's what I call a REAL overclock! No offence to you guys with your impressive overclocks.

And I overclocked a Cyrix 300 to 366; going to try for 400 next. Plus, the PC66 memory in that computer is at 83Mhz too. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
