When starting Win2K Professional after the second booting window comes up it say's. The Registry Cannot Load the hive (file) SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternative. it is corrupt, absent, or unwritable.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am dual booting with Win98. Have had to many problems with Win2K to put my trust in it.

Thanks

Rick

Tried reloading Win2K from disk but say's I cannot upgrade, already have a version installed. I have two partitions. One for Win2K and one for Win98. I've been through similiar times and had to reformat and reload Win2K. Was hoping not to this time. Gets rather time comsuming reloading everything you know. There's got to be an easier way.

reloading and repairing are not the same thing. boot from the win2k cd and go to repair.
