I have 500 .tmp files under my Windows directory that have a file name that looks like this: fffddf1f_{267640A0-0098-11D4-BFDC-00C04F12DDD7}.tmp

Where did these files come from, and can I delete them w/o affecting Windows or any of the programs negatively???

Yes, they're perfectly safe to delete. I've seen that many times on Windows 98. I delete them whenever I get the chance...
