I was reading somewhere that I need to have used a NTFS partition to take advantage of the more advanced networking capabilities of WindowsXP, such as password protection and login, etc. Is this true? If it is true, is there a program to convert FAT32 to NTFS without losing data?

XP has NTFS conversion built in although I prefer to use Partition Magic 7.0 or 8.0 for this.

You should not lose any data during the conversion unless there is a power failure or such.
