Anyone ever go skydiving before? I heard you have to go through a training process of serveral weeks and learn some basics before you actually JUMP.
If anyone has done this before can you give me some details, like cost, time needed, difficulty, etc? Thank you.

Anyone who jumps willingly from a perfectly serviceable aircraft in flight needs their head read :p

I'm sure things have changed alot in 20 years. I paid $100 dollars for a lesson, that included how to land properly, how to exit plane, what a reserve chute is for, it's not complicated. The parachute was opened by a static line. Just a line attached to the plane so you don't have to pull a ripcord . The training took about 6 hours, Then we jumped. What a blast. Iguess now you can double harness with a experienced diver, and he handles most of it, but that doesnt sound like much fun.

I think most people would feel safer with one on their first dive.
So the training only 6 hours?

here it is £140 for zip line training, landing, jumping....first jump harnessed then £25 for further jumps, after 6 jumps you are qualified to jump solo, after 20 you can actually sky dive (paracute pulled as you leave plane)
or something like that.

Yep, thats all I got. That was a long time ago tho, I'm sure the lawyers have changed that policy. It could take weeks now for all I know. Plus it was just an old round canopy, just drop and roll, not the steerable wings you can get today. I think the dual dive is a good idea for most people, much safer.
I never dived after that, it was a bunch of us guys daring each other, and having fun before we joined the service or college. One guy went through the class and decided not to jump. Noone cared, it was all for fun. We just called a local small airport and got the name of a skydiving school.:t
BTW the guy who elected not to jump ended up in the US Air Force as a pilot. Guess he preferred to stay IN the planes.

Now that's the kind of pilot I like. "No, No, please don't jump. I have never landed a 747 without a tail before. "

Tried it for a weekend many years back.
Fantastic. Enormous buzz when the chute opened.... until i puked.
But l absolutly recommend it to all youngsters. It will change your outlook. :x :x :r
Thinks.. this could solve a few probs as well if victims of convicted muggers were allowed to pack the the chute after their attacker is sentenced to 20 jumps.

did some research apparently you can do a solo jump until your 18 :(
I have to wait, I don't want my first jump to be a 2 person jump - wouldn't seem right
