That is the question.

PC all the way. :D The PC will always be ahead of any consule out today & even tomorrow. Hands down. The only thing close to the PC is the XboX, and it's already outdated.

Right on! Console's have their uses, but the PC will always be better. Hey, what do they use to program those console games? Gee, I wonder:confused: ;)

Consoles do have their strong points.

The PSX came out in 1996 and wasn't replaced "completely" untill 2001. Thats a 5 year period of not having to upgrade and no worries on if the latest game will still function.

Compare a $199 - $299 computer ---- THEN age it 5 years and see what games it can play. Then you have a fair comparison.

Or on the other hand. Yeah I bet my $1200 system can beat your $199 console. Come on, think abit

he is not talking about price, read the post.

which one is better? PC. he did not ask how much one costs.

and anyway, you'll spend £1200 on the console and all the games that cost £50.. games on the PC cost £35 new.

Thanks for informing me.

My point is it's an unfair comparison because of price.

How can you expect to compare to video game machines when one costs anywhere from 4 to "however much" more than the console.

Some people drop 200-400 for the newest VC. Thats double the price of any of the new consoles.

Is this a fair comparison. Which is better Subaru WRX or Porche GT2?

Both are unbeliable cars, but one costs 24,000 vs 186,000. Yeah you can ask the question without bringing price into the equation, but whats the use in that?

PC vs Consoles are like apples and oragnes. The only similarity is that they both can play games. One can be customized, the other can't. One can be upgraded, the other can't. One can be had for under $200, and well...the otherone can... but who wants that one.

Yes I know PC are better, but what I'm saying is if you're going to compare, make the playing field semi-even.

yes, i know what you are pointing at, but i think his argument comes from brainless console-monkeys that always say 'Oh, a console is way better than a PC'... well, thats where my argument comes from anyway :).

;) Yeah I hear ya.

People who should have the right to speak removed
"'Oh, a console is way better than a PC"

AND

"Oh, my new P4 can spank your three yr old console"

AND

"Army Men/3DO make the best games"

Well the last one is up for discussion

OP, didn't you see Project X with Matthew Broderick? They were training brainless console monkey to fly war planes during a nuclear war!

Oh boy! Flight Sims are light years ahead on pc. A console cant do nearly half the math it takes for realistic flight sims. Thats a joke.

You mean console flight sims that apply damage to a target if you're shooting within a 400ft radius of it is not up to par? :p

Consoles have no ability to do anything other than games -- boring )-|

Plus you cant really tweak or customise consoles and most importantly, bar goldeneye, FPS's never work on Console due to lack of mouse

Oh yeah if it were that simple. But its not. You have air resistance, cross winds, mass, acceleration/geforces etc. etc. More to it than just hitting the target. And all WAY beyond the power of any console out. Add to that, that REAL flight sims use $10,000 triple head projection systems that console cant even hook up to. Its just beyond there power and our pc's for the most part. These are like super pc's. Dedicated to flight sim, much like consoles to games.:t

I think pc's are better.

If you look 5 years ago it is true that pc's would have a hard time matching the life span of a playstation, but nowadays computer hardware is getting more and more powerful.

We are being flooded with cpu's (2.4ghz p4 is MUCH cheaper than it was in Jan. becasue of the release of the 2.53, and the 2.66, and now with the 3ghz p4's coming out very soon some pretty powerful cpu's will very cheap out on the market)

And in two years I do not think games will
require a p4 processor, today they still recommend a p3.

I think with a pc the upgradablity places way above any console.

If you pc is slow in games in might not be just the cpu, but it could be the vc, ram, hdd, ect.

Besides it is more fun to upgrade a pc.

See I'm going to play the Devil's Advocate Defending the Console.

Yeah I'm not going to argue with anyone that a PC can blow a console away with FPS, RTS and graphics, and I'll take a mouse keyboard over controlers *MOST* of the time, but I doubt that everyone here is going to say Console games are worthless.

Grand Theft Auto III, Final Fantasy X, Splinter Cell, Metroid Prime, Tony Hawk, Halo, Star Craft: Ghost :p the list goes on and on. I know that just because someone has a majority doesn't mean anything, but the three consoles all have their great games, and once their ported to PC, they sell well there too.

These are games that I've seen posted here, but are on (intially) consoles. Consoles do have some strong points, and to say they don't have any is just a bad argument.

Yeah I love to upgrade my computer, my bank account doesn't, but there is a novelty in knowing that nomatter how old, my PS2, XBOX or Gamecube will play the latest game for them. Some people don't like the fact that to play the latest FPS they might have to drop 300 for a new VC or 100 for RAM, some do, but others won't

and NOTHING matches the fun factor of having three close friends almost break into a fight during a long GoldenEye marathon

:D

Is the PC a superior platform? Of course it is. I love my PC. But is it the best for me? Hell no....but that's just my opinion. Consoles offer more of the games that "I" prefer. I just don't like limiting myself to one platform. Consoles are a better fit for me but obviously not for others. That's cool though, I can live with that....I'm just here to game, PC or console or whatever.....:)

Hear, Hear.

Agreed.

We're all here for one reason. Games

And every platform (PC, XBOX, PS2, GC, GBA) has great games.

This is a great time for gamers bottomline.

Depends...

I think some games are just better on console. For example, I used to play Final Fantasy 7. Great game on PS ONE. I played it on my friends computer and hated it.

Fighting games are better on Console. No matter how nice of a controller you have, it's still not the same on a computer.

I think it also depends on what system the game comes out on primarily. For example, if a game comes out on computer, then 6 months later someone converts it onto a console, the computer version is going to (MOST of the time) be better. Same is true for console to PC conversions. Now, if a game is developed totally seprate for both, then it'll probably be good on both.

To be fair, I do not own a game console and I personally love the computer for gaming. The only game system I ever owned was an N64, and that's only because I won it in a bet. I've always played other people's systems. I can't see spending all that money on a console system that can only play games and then paying a fortune for the games themselves.

I don't think a console, no matter how new, will ever beat a good PC when it comes to games. I have owned pretty much every console at some point, and have loved every one, but a few years back I built myself a PC, and have never looked back. My PS2 is now gathering dust in the corner.

I'd have to agree with jrb. I think it really depends on the type of games you want to play. As good as the PC is, it doesn't do every game genre well. I only use my PC for playing FPS's mainly, but that's just me. If you like fighting games, Japanese style RPGs (like me), then you are best off with a console, there's no way around it. Variety is the spice of life though, and it's rather nice to have so many choices when gaming. It really is an awesome to be a gamer.
