I see the same games on various platforms. I saw Need For Speed 2: Hot Pursuit, a game I know is available for Xbox, PC, PS2, and I think GameCUBE.
So, which platform
1) plays the game(s) better
2) looks better
Like, I admire the PS2 and what they've acheived with games like Grand Turismo 3, except that game has so many jaggies. I'm spoiled by my K-@ system with 4X AA, 8 tap anisotropic filtering and higher resolution, but I don't have Grand Turismo 3 for the PC, nor a PS2, neither any other console.
I want to know from those of you with some insight, tell me of the varying platforms with equal games, which is 'best'?
thanks,

1) PC's play the game better
2) PC's make the game look better
no one can argue with my second statement, the first is just an opinion, but the second, is not.
Look at what you can do with a PC, the resolutions can go up to 2048x1280, thats pretty **** sharp, the consoles are stuck with 640x480.
The 4x AA and Fullscreen AA like you mentioned above are also taken into account.
If you have a steering wheel, then all of the consoles will play the game the same won't they?

This really seems to be the question. I agree wholeheartedly that the PC should dominate.
As far as these consoles: do any offer AA, or other eye-candy rivaling a PC at similar resolutions? Are there 'studders' on consoles when the details and polys are liberally strewn like back in the ol' 16-bit Nintendo days? I have to say that the allure of a whole gaming system for $199 is tempting, at least for these racing games (they feel more natural with those cool controllers).

Here's an article you can check out that compares the PS2 and Xbox. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this article but it makes for an interesting read....check it out here (http://members.fortunecity.com/theps2arena/ps2arena/id40.html)

That's a great article, JuNacy. Thanks a lot.
I wonder if it's possible for SONY to create a PC Video card based on their Emotion/Graphics Synthesizer.
And tell you what, I've been impressed with my friend's PS2s, and am seriously considering getting one. Although I'm not sure the wife will let me....

Pc's play games much better - in the case of FPS's especially which are a real labour to play without a mouse - hence most console FPS's are turd in a can, also driving games just dont feel right without my good ol arrow keys :x
And PC's look MUCH..MUCH better i think we all agree.. or should do anyhows

Ok, first obviously the PC will always yield the best graphics out of all systems.
Second, XBOX gameplay is far superior to PS2 and GC. If you were going to go with PS2 for all the titles it has out currently, I suggest waiting for PS3 to come out and buying it. Because in my opinion, PS2 is already outdated. I think it runs at close to 300 mhz while XBOX runs at 700 mhz. Xbox also has a much better graphics card and a 10 gb hard drive; PS2 has no user hard drive. GC is good, but better for kids because of the games, although it does have the wireless controllers which are just yummy.
Some argue that PS2 is worth buying solely because it has better games, but I disagree. I think games like Halo, Project Gotham Racing, and others are just as good as anything Sony has. This is excluding GTA 3, which by the way I think is better for PS2 rather than PC.
You can probably tell that I have an XBOX, and I strongly suggest you to either wait for PS3 or buy XBOX (or XBOX2 for that matter).

I just read that article and I have one thing to say: BS. I have played both systems and the graphics/speed/gameplay is much much better on XBOX (and even GC). I don't exactly understand all that article, but I know from experience that XBOX is a better system in terms of graphics and gameplay.

How many people use word, and Dvix, and other Programs on their PC? For person who can sit in a chair and play games on a small screen, then the pc is better. However, those who need to be able to site in our favorite recliner and play games on a big screen tv, the Consol is better. Sure, games will always play better on the PC, look better. However, I use my PC for Audio/Video editing, word procesing, Flash Animations, heavy HTML use, and a lot of other stuf like this. I don't want to spend time configuring my System for a game, the changing it back to its original settings. The consol has only perpose, to play games, that is the only thing that the processer is being used for. In my opinion, the Console is better.
Also, I took a look at the article, and I have to say that Xbox is better.

I disagree.
The PC is an awesome tool, when harnessed correctly it will yield the best graphics of any platform and enable some fantastic multiplayer games but there are too many newbies for it to be the best platform.
The technical ability required to play games on the PC is much higher than the slot-in and push the power button of the console markets, you get joypads automatically with consoles....The whole experience is completly different - how many people have a TV sitting in their corner of the room to play on the PS2 / XBox.. with compared to the number of PC's!
When you compare games like-4-like i.e. Medal Of Honour, the order in which the games are played, the strength of the weapons...are all different. I reckon it is down the to an age thing (plus the simple pick up and play type thing).
I personally like PC gaming, and am sure everyone here will give you the same answer - we all have out set-ups sorted, but there is only one draw-back - When you playing to spend another £300 on upgrades?

Hmmmm..... I wonder what type of answers we'll get in a PC game Forum??? I wonder??
Anyway, games are games. One does not have of be better than the other. The success in one area of the gaming industry affects other areas of the gaming industry.
Both have their own pros and cons. Nothing is perfect, or everyone would use it. I'm playing BF 1942 & MOHAA cause they rock, and really can't get that kind of experience on a console. And I'm also playing Metriod Prime & NHL2K3 on my Cube, and thats one thing I can't ever do on a PC.
Yeah, if Metriod ever was ported over, they could improve on stuff. But thats a "what if" kinda statement, and might as well be a "never will be"
I for one, enjoy good, well made games. And I could give a rats @ss what platform its on. :D
