Before I do a scandisk and defrag, I always disable virtual memory and reboot in safe mode.

My questions are, if virtual memory is now disabled, is there any benefit by deleting the swap file and having windoze98 recreate it ? Will W-Doze recreate it ?
Is this risky ? Does the swap file get fragmented like a "normal" file ?
Could I create it myself and if yes, is there a command line switch that would make the file use contiguous space ?

Whew, didn't mean to be so wordy, had a brain dump there.

thanks

You should create a second partition on your HD to store the swap file. That way, the fragmentation created by massive swapfile usage does not fragment your primary partition.
