The Plextor 16/10/40 is definately worth it. I got mine last week and I've burned two CDs while surfing the net...NO BUFFER UNDERRUNS!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
The Plextor (and Sanyo) drives are the only non-SCSI drives that can reliably run at full-speed and still avoid errors. The BURN-Proof technology Plexor/Sanyo drives use is very reliable.
No offense to Yamaha, but adding a bigger buffer to lessen errors is like sticking a band-aid on an arterial wound.

Hope this helps. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I don't know about the Yamaha, but the Plextor fully supports CloneCD -CD writing software that accurately copies subchanel data on copy protected CDs - er, ah, only for backups of your legally owned software, of course.

Using a Plextor 12/10/32A successfully burned a full CD while playing Counter Strike on the net. works great.

I have the Yamaha crw2100ez .....I have only had one coaster and it was my own mistake ....I have burned 30 disks and no coasters ......I surf while burning and run as many as 4 windows at once with no buffer underrun ....is an ok writer in my book .....
good luck with your choice
