I have recently come across two MS 6340 mobos with the same fault!
Both will not post at all they power up fine and If you remove Video card or memory you still get no beeps. They both were running fine with durons and just stopped for no reason. The bios's had not be flashed. Just ceased to be.
I was wondering if it was worth replacing the CMOS chips. Or would it be a waste of money?

SDRAM mobos seem quite rare nowadays and I dont want the cost of upgrading to DDR ram quite yet.

Has anyone heard of this before? Strange that it happened twice on the same design board?

Things happen. The symptoms you describe could also be fried Durons. If the fans failed - kaboom!

I wouldn't call that an MSI fault. Call it coincidence. Replace the boards with ECS K7S5As for $55 if they fit.

Yep - because it's the only readily available board that can use SDRAM w/Athlon XPs and it's dirt cheap.
