I know you use BeOS, just wanted to know the best sound card with 4.1/5.1 support that's also supported in BeOS and a hardware modem.
Thanks

Personal requests? I feel honored! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The issue with a hardware modem is best solved with a good serial port external. I generally recommend 3com/usr. However, if you want a cheap option to get up and running, BeOS actually supports a variety of software driver Win-modems, such as the Lucent LT series.

Sound is simple enough, go for a SB Live. In my opinion, this is the best BeOS sound solution currently available.

Scott listed a great BeOS resource in the front page news this week. Check this out:

I also drop one more recommendation, go with a 3dfx video card. Even if you intend to use another card for 2D, then try digging up a Voodoo2 for 3D. Otherise, the V3 2000 is an excellent low-cost solution. Currently, 3dfx is about your best bet for any form of 3D acceleration with Be.
