Hi http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Me is a stereo freak http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
http://www.audioreview.com/

That is an excellent site. I narrowed down my subwoofer choices from there.

Major advise: do not go by others' opinions alone because they are just that - opinions.

I had narrowed my choices from the 12" Klipsch sub and the 15" model. At the time, there were over 80 reviews for the 12" ALL saying it was excellent and had more than enough power. There were about 12+ reviews for the 15" model, most saying that it had far too much power and sounded "boomy".

I tried 12" model.

Result:
Must

have

more

power!!!

I found the 12" had no headroom - IMO! The 15" was perfect for me.

bass is truly cool, I once went to an auto show, there was this Mercedes van on show, filled to the brim with audio equipment and big mama sub woofers, I don’t know what the wattage was, but I could feel it was **** strong, I was standing 1 meter away with a friend of mine and I swear to you the diaphragm in my chest was vibrating and hurting...but it was cool http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif.

Bass is nice but it's not the most important thing. While it's the easiest thing to notice about a system and subsequently show off http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif...Don't spend a disproportionate amount of you're audio budget on a sub.

Also, be careful not to get caught up in the specs game, audition everything and make choices based on what you think sounds best. Everyone has there own references to which they judge a system.

Another tip is to bring alot of your own CDs that you like to listen to when you audition stuff at the store. It kind of helps hearing some music that you know so you can judge it.
Pay attention to how they have the settings on the equipment also, a lot of places like to run subs on while demo-ing speakers to make them sound like they have more bass response than they actually do. If possible, run the salesperson off and play with it for a while. Be sure and sooth their hurt feelings by getting a card from them and tell them if you have any questions you will get ahold of them.
One last thing, be prepared for speakers to sound different(sometimes ALOT!!)in the store versus in your home..(acoustics and stuff, you know) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
