I have an Abit KT7A-RAID 10-1.2, and I've been looking around for the cpu speedz that it supports. I have read in some places that it will take Athlon XP's, how high can I go? IF you can add some input plz do....

THX

Info from Abit FAQ section. The motherboard manufacturer is usually the best source of accurate info for questions like yours.

Officialy you need the 1.3 revision of the board to run Xp's

unofficially they have been known to work in earlier boards okay

Max you can officially get is the 1.4ghz Tbird

IMO its not really worth it on a KT7a (i have one too) as the lack of DDR support will hold you back a bit -- send a letter to santie clause asking for A new mobo, XP CPU and DDRRAM ;)

TY...TY

Thanks for your replies...I picked up a IT7 board a while back and I'm going to hold back and get the processor and RAM for that instead of wasting money on the KT7A...

I agree with you all...without the better/faster memory I would be pissing the money away.

Keep hold of the KT7a for any backup systems mind you - IMO its the best SDRAM only board about :D

Dunno...I have a Soyo BA +IV 100 ( think) and it's the most stable board I've ever come across. I have a P3-450 in it now and I use it for storage and what-not. The onboard RAID is a nice component.

Go figure...You install your choice of an OS and it sets up without any hassle whatsoever...why can't they all do that...LMAO...

I was putting in a new video card Saturday and found out that the board is a 1.3. I'm still faced with the memory limitation. Oh well...

I think the Asus A7V133 would be at the same level as the KT7a... has the KT133A chipset, runs fine with all three mem slots filled, offers Promise RAID (if you're into that kind of stuff), decent overclocker/tweaker, real solid and dependable, fast too.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm actually looking at Intel boards now. I have an IT7 Max2, and I'm looking for one more board to complete the set. I do 3D graphics utilizing 3D Studio Max and Lightwave. I have the Intel contender narrowed down.

TY everyone that gave me some input and advice.
