Hey, notice that a desktop casing is less and lesser being recognized as an efficient place to house your precious GF4's, AMD's and things that separates us from the early 1900's. I don't mind the increased space requirements brought by the larger floor area a desktop casing occupies (Don't we look at our computers as shrines). I designed several heat-dissipating efficient (OK, HUGE) casings though some don't follow standards. Since hot air travels upwards, cooler ones tend to stay at the bottom, flatter casing makes a lot of sense don't you think? Processor heatsink efficiency increases simply because more of the heat goes there, not to the processor core. Fan ducting even makes thing better. Cooling everything up is rather simple because it can sufficiently rely on a single fan system place atop the casing or you can always keep it open (just how you'll like your fave bar to be). I might be posting sample designs here in the future.

Tower cases just look cooler. :r

Lian Li and Coolermaster make some good desktop cases. I'd be interested in seeing some nice custom dekstop cases. Feel free to post pics. Your idea about better HSF efficiency in a desktop could be true if the desktop is designed well.

There is two good reasons for tower cases if you think about it long enough. Heat rises better in a chiminey and a desktop configuration usually has a monitor on top of it which makes it harder to service.

Correct and that is bad for COOLING effect

which mean the PC will get hot very fast

and everything will just meldown

and then you'll hear a Big KABOOM! :x :t
