As I've been told here, I understand if you don't remove this app properly, it can screw up your net access...meaning going thru control panel/add-remove to get rid of it. However, I did just that and it said Webhancer was uninstalled completely, but it still left 13 Webhancer apps and files.
I contacted Dell support, and they said to remove this app under safe mode, which is what I did. I'm still showing 14 files and registry keys that should have been removed. I'm afraid to just delete it because it might screw up my net access since it buries itself in windows code. I have Ad-aware, which is how I knew about it in the first place.
Anyone have the slightest idea how to bust this thing outta here??? Thanks, Jim.
Update:
I did use Ad-aware to remove most of the suspicious files. However, Windows would NOT let me get rid of these scanned files:
*******************************************
Started folder scan.
==================
WebHancer folder:C:\Program Files\webHancer
Suspicious folders found : 1
Started file examination.
=========================
WebHancer file:C:\Program Files\webHancer\Programs\whiehlpr.dll
Suspicious files found : 1
Scan complete.
Total spyware references found on this system:2

Sure is interesting. Windows has a spyware "helper" app that you can't get off you PC. What's next???
