Here is my computer's memory bandwidth benchmark result. I am running an Athlon XP 2400+ (overclocked to 2.18 GHz, which is a little bit faster than an Athlon XP 2600+ :) ). I have two 512 MB PC3200 DDR400 SDRAM inside my box. Take a look at the results. You'll be surprised...

General Hideki Tojo,
His Majesty's Imperial Japanese Army

PS: I compared my results with the fastest Pentium 4-class processor and the fastest RDRAM on the market...

For the 5th time,

STOP USING BMPs!

after waiting a while.. i finally downlaoded the BMP and you need to do some memory tweaking!!!... serioslys... its not much better than PC2700 with the current specs..

Ok I assume cause you keep saving in BMPs you are using Paint to save these things. If I recall you are on windows XP so when your saving it next time right below where you type the file name it says "Save as type" change that to JPEG. Then go tweak your ram

This is with "slow" pc2100 DDR. (note the JPEG format)

Nice, phenious. Happy tweaking! :)

Here is my memory test..
(DONT LAUGH!!!.. I only have SDRAM  )

Very respectable for your RAM :) looks like you did do some tweaking :) not sure if you could get much more out of that. Maybe bumping the FSB up a little or more aggressive memory timings if you havent done that but I think you did :) nice

The ram is PC-133 and by SPD it is cas3, and the most relaxed settings possible.. and i cant get to the magical 150MHz FSB... yet....:(

phenious
11-26-2002, 02:53 AM
I would drop the SPD if you can and try for a lower CAS setting as that really helps normally :)

i have.. it is already at CAS 2 and Turbo... cant do much more than that....(except ditch the KT7A board and use my GA-7VRXP and the XMS2700 i have lying around):D

phenious
11-26-2002, 03:07 AM
oh, well then like I said I think you have already done that stuff :p nice work :D if you are having trouble getting the FSB up a fan on the mobo Chipset and such helps.

There are only four reasons why an Athlon XP user would want to get XMS3200 or other PC3200 memory...

1) they unlock their CPU and try to bring it to 333 or even 400 FSB with tight timings
2) they want to run with a CL1.5 setting (like on the AT7 MAX-2)
3) they want to keep their memory for a long time (not reasonable considering that DDR-II is around the corner)
4) they want to have bragging rights for now (like Tojo)

Phenious, those are pretty good scores. Too bad I have one CL2.5 DDR stick (only one is CL2) so in order to achieve good timings I have to up the DIMM voltage to 2.9... at 145FSB I need to bring it up to 3.2 .... but, it's lightning fast there :D

This is what Tojo told me in response:

It's their problem, not mine, and plus, I was thinking about something else.

causticVapor, is Tojo your brother? If so, I feel sorry for you. (except for when you get the "obsolete" parts off his computer);)

causticVapor

He's not.... he's just a person in school I got to know... I felt sorry enough for him to build his system.

Tojo and Phenious both go to the same school as I do... that's how this all is interconnected...

As for "Obsolete" computer parts being "handed down..." to me, well.... I could accelerate the process quite well.... swap out a few things... my Ti 4200 is close to the color of his R300.. :r he'll never notice... :D

Super LOL!

Go for it! I know what you mean. I helped a friend build a sys, and nows he bragging about how it's better than mine. I should just swap my stick of cheapo ddr2100 for one of his sticks of Samsung ddr2700. He'd never know! ;) :p

Nah... I wouldn't really do that... I'd feel guilty and eventually he'd find out....

Just too much of a nice guy I suppose :(

I don't know what it is, it's like anti-upgrade syndrome; lately I have been wanting to cling as close to my hardware as possible and not upgrade :) It's really fast and optimized now :D

I have faith in my stuff :D I like it :D I don't get tired of it

and my CL2.5 DIMM :(

Giblet Plus!

And my CL 2.5 2100 Dimm. :(

Stupid thing doesn't work at all with more than 2.6V.

causticVapor
11-29-2002, 12:16 AM
I gues I'm a bit more lucky than you are with mine -- it'll handle up to 2.9v without problems and 3.2v sporadically. However, it really doesn't like anything above 3v while the kingston PC2300 module takes it w/o probs.

My plan -to sell both of them overpriced to some sucker and then get myself a stick of 512MB XMS3200 :D

phenious

Why does Tojo come to mind when you say that casutic??

Looking back, I even have better bandwidth than Tojo! Probably because he's running ddr3200 with relaxed timings asyncronous to a 133 fsb. He should learn to tweak before bragging.

And I have uber cheap ddr2100! :p

LOL We're all beating his uber-system! :D

But I might break up the road to victory, as I'll unlock his CPU and bring it up to 400 FSB :x

Then for some real benchmarks :D

Grentarc
11-29-2002, 11:29 PM
from what i have heard, R300's dont like the FSB high..... may need the voltage on the AGP port upped a little for it to work...

causticVapor
11-30-2002, 07:58 PM
True, true, very true..

R300's are very schinzty to FSB oc'ing.

I'll have to do some vmodding on the board as it doesn't have any options for uppping the AGP voltage

But first, 333FSB!! :D

Gen_Hideki_Tojo

new memory bandwidth benchmark...

Grentarc
12-09-2002, 07:22 PM
THATS more like it... what are the RAM timings on that boxen?
A good board (if you have the money Tojo) is the Abit NF7.. (i think thats the model for it) NForce2.. you can lock the AGP and PCI busses, and change the FSB sepperately... yreat for overclocking.. and the fact that you have 2x 512mb RAM, you get full use of the dual DDR.... just a suggestion for you.

Tell it to Caustic Vapor. All Tojo does with his system is post screenshots. Everyone knows CV does the building and tweaking. :p

Grentarc

yeah.. well.. causticVapor.. have a look above and erccomend to Tojo that he gets one.

causticVapor

Well, this is in his Bro's system; I actually taught him how to tweak and with a little guidance he was able to assemble the mobo, cards, drives etc. in unison. But the 400FSB I must say would have never been done had it not been for the magic hand.... the Caustic Vapor that does justice to the infidels....

His wiring job was horrible, so I straightened it up and now it looks great :D Too bad he still doesn't have a USB cam, which is what I'd really recommend.

BTW grentarc, we've been contemplating either the NF7-s or 8-RDA+. Since the RDA+ allows for a bit more stability, even though it doesn't have RAID, I think that is go :D I mean, he only has 20gig HDDs anyway :p
