Microsoft Phasing Out Support For Old Software
In its ongoing effort to push people to the latest versions of its products, Microsoft Corp. (stock: MSFT) has posted a schedule of when it plans to stop supporting the older versions. Losing support at the end of this year are Windows 95; Windows 1.x through 3.x; Windows for Workgroups; and DOS versions up to 6.22. Losing support on June 30, 2003 are Windows NT 4 Workstation and Windows 98.
Can you say buy XP???

By 2003 many of the Windows users will have switched over to Linux unless MS gets on the ball and really creates something that doesn't need to be patched every few weeks!

No, but I can say "Thank God for SysOpt and the knowledge avail. at their forums!" http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Actually, I am looking forward to "XP" sometime after they get the majority of the bugs fixed from the first release. Kinda like Windows XP SE! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Are you joking about XP? XP is going to be a nightmare for us computer junkies. Anytime we make a vast change to our system (install new hardware??), we will have to call M$ to get a danged key. Now, we all know M$ support royally blows, so this would mean waiting forever on the phone! Thanks, but no thanks. I'm perfectly happy with 2000, when that goes out, time for me to learn the newer Linux OSs out there.
