What mobo are you using?
:t :) :t

Well the first thing you need to do is drop in at least another 256 meg of memory. BF1942 is based on the MOHAA game engine. On my XP based computer. MOHAA uses 256 meg of memeory by it self. ME will use at least 100 meg for itself. So you are using the swap file real hard.

You also need to check your IRQ's and see if you have any conflicts.

start>programs>accessories>system tools>sys information

Then in the left side box of this window click on the Plus sign beside "hardware resources". Then click on the IRQ line it will open on the right side and show what IRQ's are used for what device. If any other devices such as a sound card is with you video it will cause lockups.

So look at the IRQ's if you have any devices doubled up on the same IRQ's then you will need to move some cards around to get the IRQ's seperated. Do not worry about the lines that say PCI steering. Just look at modem/lan cards. Sound cards, video. All plug in cards sould be on seperated IRQ's.

Post back and let us know what you see in the IRQ's

The only thing I see that might be a problem is the USB and the sound blaster on the same IRQ. Sound blaster products do not play well with other items on the same IRQ.

Do you use a joy stick on you games? If not I dought if that is a problem then.

Your board is a good one. No over clock features. But stable. So memory is the first item on the list. You need more real bad.

Set up system monitor

start>programs>accessories>system tools>system monitor

After it starts. Click the edit tab>Add Item

Add free memory, used memory, swap file size, swap file used. Do not close the program. MIN it to the lowr tool bar.

Start up BF1942 and run it for 5 minutes or so. Then shut it down and check all the items you were monitoring. The swap file size will tell you how much memory you need just for this game. What ever the swap file size is add 50 megs to it for memory to add.

You could also setup DRWatson. It might tell you which drive or file is causing the problem.

start>programs>accessories>system tools>sys information>tools tab>DrWatson.

When you have it running. Do a min to the lower tool bar. Then run the game and when it locks bring up DRW and see if it caught the file with the problem.

OK, its not the motherboard, its not the IRQ's, its not the power supply....RAM? Maybe. My friend has a computer with 256 and MOHAA runs fine. So we are down to software glitches(that really narrows it:rolleyes: ) You could reinstall the games. Check to see if you have the latest drivers for your videocard.

Could very well be. I mean look at it like this. The system is stable TILL you run a game which will A) use more cpu power and increase the power consumption for cpu (power is amps x volts the volts is the constint in this case the amps go up!). Then B) the gpu on vid card which is idle basically on 2d, but when running heavy games like that it too will use more power. So I would say it could very well be. The psu is so often overlooked when it comes to instability. Good thinking Optimus. I would say get Hmon or similar and run sisoft. Bench the cpu and mem, watch your 12v 3.3v and etc. If it drops over 10% when stressed then you got problems. Due check this cause a over loaded or weak psu can kill your hole system and often they are undersized for the needed load.:t
