a few days ago there was a pretty windy storm, and the power went out to my house for about 5 seconds. i booted up my computer after the wind died down a little to find that the internet (sbc dsl) wasnt working. it was the same on the other computer. i called sbc to see if the dsl line was down in my area, but it wasnt. i checked that by going straight from the dsl modem to my computer..and it worked. when i try to set up the router (linksys befsr41) again it gets an error message about 1/2 the way through. i am following the directions, and triple checking that i am doing it right. the router still wont set up. i tried the reset button, but that didnt seem to help..whats wrong??
thanks ~ paul

sounds like you gotta get a new router. sorry, bud. get yourself a good UPS while you're at it.

THE LAST RESOLT! :t
before you go out shopping or RMA
try downloading the Latest BIOS for the Linksys and FLASH IT!!
it works, this is a trick from a Linksys Tech
this happend to me once, but i did have a UPS and Surge Protector hookup when that happend
so either way try and see if you get lucky :D

How can he flash new firmware if he can't address the router? Honestly....

well... he hasn't exactely mentioned he can't get to 192.168.1.1
and to Flash the BIOS he doesn't need to get to the WebInterface
the Flash program will connect straigh
just power it off for a few minutes
power it back on, hold the Reset button until you see red light
or if it's red already just run the Flash
then use the default Admin password at 192.168.1.1
use static IP on once of your nic cards for 192.168.1.10 or whatever in that range
and disconnect all the other ethernet cables
