I am asking this question for a friend. He was on a chat room the other day and suddenly a large spiraling graphic appeared on his screen and will not go away. H tried rebooting several times but it is still there. Is this a virus, and if so does anyone know what can be done to remove it?
Thanks everyone.

It's a virus. Boot to safe mode, run msconfig, and disable anything starting with AAXXXXXXX(it's all caps).exe
Restart, and get a GOOD up to date virus scanner on the system, and run it.
When done, you'll have to run SFC, and extract wsock32.dll from the windows CD to replace the infected one on the computer.

Do a search on this worm/virus. There you will solve the problem.

Win32.Hybris.B worm
