I've just purchased a 100Mb internal zip drive and installed it in my (1GHz Athlon) PC.

Whenever I try and access the drive everything will occur normally for a few seconds and then the PC will hang. It will unfreeze again after 10-20 seconds and do the same again. When I close Windows Explorer and the drive is no longer accessed everything is back to normal.

What could be causing this? I am running Win2K.

Go to www.iomega.com (http://www.iomega.com) They have new software for their zip100 drives. Try this link http://www.iomega.com/software/reg/en_reg_iomegaware28pc.html

Nope, that's not it. I've downloaded the latest Iomegaware software and drivers but the freeze still happens. It only occurs when the Zip drive is in use, otherwise everything works fine.

you might want to check the jumper/cable setting, try a different channel/controller.
