i was just running win2k with no problem, however after few month of install it suddenly decided not to run any game that used open GL, like quake3, half life, etc... and I cant watch my dvd no more, it happened all of a sudden and I didnt install anything "weird" in particular. I then reinstalled my display driver and directx8, still the same problem, any suggestions?

What kind of videocard you have? When my voodoo2 openGL didn't work along with 2 other computers, I've spent 2months trying to figure out what was wrong. So I finally made it to the last point to check, I was at my last resort and I question myself, could it be the DirectX, YES!!!!! For some reason the openGL didn't work with DirectX 7&8, so I found a program to uninstall it( very risky!!) then instaill DirectX 6 and it worked ever since!!! Then I gradually install the other DirectX up to 8.
Hope this helps. L8s

from what i heard on the half life update messes up the open gl. i had the similar problems. some said to go into the gdr folder i think located in the half life folder.. copy the files out of it and place them right into the halflife folder itself. i myself have no tried this out yet hope it works for you

nah, its not a directx 8, I installed it and ran it at least for a week, I am using radeon 64mb ddr, however, ANY other card I now put in will not work in open GL any more, and I am not just talkig about half life, its EVERYTHING. I am guessing this is a open gl problem seeing how direct3d still work
