kernal32.dll crash during boot-up

Starting two days ago, whenever I try to boot a Win98SE system, a General Protection Fault appears saying a Java error has occured. The details box says it's a problem with kernal32.dll. The message appears during that period of time when the desktop is being written to the screen. When I click the <close> button the message disappears and everything runs fine. What's up? Have tried a search in SysOpt under kernal32.dll, but can't get in.
