Peter M 11-06-2002, 05:43 PM That's a PC-Chips M537 (note: not M537DMA33 aka M537+). Inspect the south bridge chip, it must be a VIA 586A or B to support USB at all. Round that time, there were pre-1.0 USB chips out from all chipset manufacturers, shipped in anticipation of the 1.0 standard not changing anything relevant. It did however, rendering the pre-1.0 USB controllers useless. Later BIOSes for the boards affected then went to hide their USB ports. regards, Peter fifolo 11-07-2002, 03:59 PM I have VIA 82C586B Peter M 11-07-2002, 04:08 PM OK, 586B has working USB. First of all, inspect the hardware on whether you got a VXpro or a VXpro+ chipset there - to find whether your board is a 537 or a 537DMA33. Then visit go.to/ajz and click yourself through to the 53x folder to access all the collected resources for this board, including diagrams and later BIOSes. fifolo 11-07-2002, 05:22 PM VXPro = 537 , right? Peter M 11-08-2002, 05:00 AM Yes ... although I'm a bit surprised to find a 586B on the older board. Look in the corner near the keyboard connector, there should be a revision number Vx.x there. What is it? fifolo 11-11-2002, 07:42 PM V5.1A Peter M 11-12-2002, 06:03 AM Ah, so it's the just-short-of-having-the-new-chipset revision. IIRC, v5.2 was the first one to use the VIA VPX north bridge, not the VP-1 (and henceforth using the VXpro+ alias name). regards, Peter SysOpt.com
