I'm planning to buy speakers which have 5.1, subwoofer and very good watt. Cost around $100. there are so many brands, i can't decide which is best quality of sound.
which brand is good? Altec, Bose, Creative, or Logitech.

I have the Logitech Z-640 speakers. Very crisp, clear sound. Great bass response.
I think that best buy has them for $100.

They are the best speakers i have ever owned.:t

It's tough in that price range... Bose and Altec have been in the speaker business for decades. If you could see your way to spending about $200, you'd have a lot more choices. I really like Klipsch ProMedia series (2.1's can be had for about $160, not sure how much more the 5.1's are, though).

they're all good brands - wattage ratings are a bit misrepresented because of they way they can be stated, but all the brands you listed are good (seems to me Bose is always a bit over-priced)

it really gets down to listening preference too - I like low end response, and will make sure the store gives me something to listen to on the computer rather than some barry manilow of kenny g (yeccch) track that deosn't let you really hear them for music and games

then I crank the volume until that subwoofer starts to distort - the one is the price range that does that at the highest volume is my buy

you may be more interested in the high end, then you're just listening again to distortion from the satellite or tweeter speakers in the same fashion, or just paying attention to crispness and clarity

p.s. hey AG - you gonna put in a splitter and run both? :D

I would pick up the klipsch system because I have heard some great things about the sub etc, clarity from the tweeter is very good but not perfect. Me, I went crazy when i bought my system about a year ago. I bought the Videologic Crossfires which were $500! The bass is sufficient but the tweeter rock in terms of high pitch and clarity. You know, you can check out www.3dss.com they have alot of good reviews.
