everyone will prolly say that i am obsessed with duals but actually i am just curious about overclocking and duals..... anyways does anyone know if there is a dual Socket A (supports durons possibly?) that also allows overclocking? the reason i choose durons is the cash flow issue and the reason for duals and overclocking....just stuff to tinker with. kinda tired of my plain old blah flat-out-running-normal-system )-| oh well if anyone has any helpful info on these subjects at all....please let me know? thanks

The only AMD CPUs which can be used in SMP setups are the MP Athlons. They are unlocked from the factory or easy to unlock, multiplier-wise.
Frankly, I think you're foolish to go that route. Dual CPU systems are usuallly slower with normal applications and games. Why would you you want to slam your head against the wall and spend all of that money - so you can get normal performance by overclocking and destabilizing a system that was built for stability? Talk about silly.

Actually Bill, you can you XP's in a dual system. I just built one using 2 xp 1600's from NewEgg. I have them both running at 1726Mhz. That's a 326 Mhz O.C. per cpu. I am running a K7D Master with 512 mb CORSAIR XMS 3500 RAM.
In order to run the xp processor the last laser cut on the L5 bridge needs to be closed. I ran 3Dmark 2001se, Prime 95, and SiSoft Burnin for memory at the same time for 14 hrs so I would have to say it was fairly stable.

Cool. You "close" the laser cut or do you bridge it?

HERE (http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/articles.hwz?cid=2&aid=393) is a link to a tutorial how to make a dual MP board run with two XPs or two Durons
Hope you like...

That's the article I read and posted in the forum where that kid wanted to run a MP 1800 in a xp board.
Yes, Bill just close em up. Hell of a lot cheaper.
