I just got done looking around at a few websites including ECS's page over at http://www.ecsusa.com/K7S5A.cfm and I'm still a bit confused about something. Does anyone know what the highest speed amd XP processor is compatable with this board? I'm under the impression that its a 1700+ but several people have told me it goes to 1800+. Am I wrong?

Except for veeeery early v1.0 units, K7S5A with the latest BIOS in is ready for all Athlon XP speed grades except the very top ones that need a 166 MHz CPU bus. So up to 2600+, you're set. Mind the power supply and the cooling, those beasts draw a LOT of power and that has to come from somewhere and go somewhere.

Peter is right. I've got my k7s5a overclocked at 143/143 and running like a 2000xp. Actually it's and 1800 but they do run on the warm side. Mine runs best with the side off the case but I'm pushing 768mb of ddr2100 and the chipset behaves better that way. More fans might help but the case is getting full. Thinking of going to a 2200 at XMAS.
Take it on up and have fun. The board is easy to work with

As peter said, it runs all the Xp's if its the newer revision upto 166mhz fsb ones.. If your not sure it is the newer version look at the zif socket. It should have two jab protectors by it. You know where the tang of HSF goes to socket. They are labels there that say XP on them and if you slip with the screw driver during HSf install it will prevent you gouging the board. Nice touch. It is a very nice board and easy to work with. I have it running a 1600+ myself with samsung ddr2100 @ ultra timings with no errors in memtest86 after 9 hours of looping. Good mobo.:D

Tomorrow I will have one with a 2000+ :D
I think I remember someone actually testing one of the new chips with the 166mhz bus on the K7S5A.
Dont remember were or when. Maybe I am totally wrong.
I know everyone is saying they wont be supported. Thought I would just add that.
