I have a K7VZA Rev 3.0 Bios 3.2e, AMD 1GHz, I cannot set the PCI Latency above 32 - I need min of 64. I have a Raptor Capture card installed set with its own IRQ (10) - when its removed the latency is 248 - as soon as its back in then it goes down to 32. This causes blox during video output - anybody else with a similar problem?:t

First of all, there are way newer BIOSes for that mainboard. Then, that card might be limiting things itself (PCI devices have a "max latency" register that BIOSes should take into account) - remember, setting a high PCI latency might stall realtime data streams (when another agent is owning the bus for long times). Besides, you may want to install VIA's PCI performance patch. This tweaks lots more PCI bus behavior settings than the user is allowed to in BIOS setup.

Peter,
thanks for your swift reply, I take it this patch is available from VIA's website - anything I should be wary of?

Not much. Newer BIOSes might already contain the new register setup done by that patch, so I suggest you try the latest BIOS from www.ecs.com.tw, and if still no good, install the patch on top of that. VIA's site for end user stuff is www.viaarena.com.
