Had Suse Linux ver. 2.4.18-4G loaded wouldn't run. Set it all back to windows with the recover disk. Changed out my cyber keyboard with a standard keyboard as I figured this was a problem. The mouse (PS2) didn't work at all. The keyboard only worked sporadically and not all functions. Installed a second hard drive (4GB) to run Linux. Haven't done the install yet as I don't want to have to go thru all the recovery again for windows. This is the sytem I'm using for it:
Compaq 166Mhz w/ MMX, Win98se, 2.1GB HDD, 4GB HDD, 56MB SDRAM, 16X CDROM, Floppy drive, 14" monitor, onboard sound card, onboard graphics card, 2 USB ports, 33.6 Compaq modem.
I know the memory should be up to 64MB. I even tried getting my USB optical wheelmouse to work and it wouldn't. It may not be supported with this version of Linux.
Just wondering if I missed something in the install or it was just the hardware I used that was not supported properly.

Make sure that you have enabled "Legacy USB" in BIOS setup. It may also be labelled "DOS USB".

Can I use the Windows versions of the drivers from a floppy disk created by windows in SuSE and get it to work or am I barking up the wrong tree? I ask because I have win98se on the first disk in the system and I'm booting Linux from floppy. I found out that the version is 8.0 and the kernel is 2.4.18-4G. I reinstalled SuSE again, The desktop does come up, it's light green in color, SuSE dark green lizard in the upper right hand corner, icons are on the desktop, taskbar on the bottom. Two functions work on the keyboard, f8, or ctrl f8, or alt f8. The menu opens with no functions. I have been able to get the run command window open but, once again it doesn't function. I printed the manual for installation and I'm reading it to see if I can get an idea about anything I missed during the install.
