Pretty decent for an 8500... OC'd?

it must be OC

i have mine at Default Stock settings and it averages at 8500

I'd say so as well since the ti4200 is about equal to the 8500, if not a little faster, and it gets around 10000-11500 when oc'd.

Sorry I didnt respond, hotmail put this in my bulkmail folder for some reason.

Yeah, I OC the little 8500LE 128mbddr version. After i read about the program in rage3d.com. I was going to keep this card untill decent 8x cards came out. But so far its been great.

Its a combo of OC the card and OC the system bus by 17 mhz so fsb is 117x4.

Yeah its was around 8500 like allgamer said at default. But not any more. It does seem to run hotter though, i have a thermal probe hooked up to the top of the card where the gpu is on the other side. And you can hear it slow down when you exit a game.

Hmm, I guess it would run a little hotter. I mean the Le's are 250mhz gpu. So thats a 51.5mhz gpu O'clock there! Now the mem is kinda low though. I mean what is it. Built by ati. If so then is it the first 3.6ns hynix mem or the latter better 3.3ns. I got the one with the 3.3ns and its rated at 300mhz by spec. So she'll handle that! The 3.6 though I dont know how far it will oclock, its rated at 275mhz that its run at. Also this is kinda strange but two bios's for the 8500 have diff. ram timings. BUT this makes sense after finding 3.3ns vs. 3.6ns. At rage3d they said the 3.6 didnt like the one 8500 bios even at stock settings cause of the more aggresive ram timings. THis is why they ran the 3.3ns at 275 but with low cas settings. This makes up for the +25mhz mem overhead but makes the 3.6ns instable. He said it cause freq. lockups and artifacts. We all know the strange defects you get with o'clocked vid mem. Tearing and graphics dots all over....So I wonder if this may be why some have sooo much trouble. The wrong bios on the wrong 8500. Anyhow getting off topic now. Later:t

I've heard that the 8500 does not scale as well as the 9700.. is that true? And what P4gamer is saying about the RAM is true as well...

There's no going past a certain point with the mem, the core will go a lot higher...

of course this is the opposite with GF4 cards... again dependent on mem rating and cl...

let's see... the R300 is a flipchip... the mem is BGA... doh --HITTING HEAD ON DESK- -- stupid me...
