From memory, LPT1 default settings are 378?

Maybe a typo? but a possibilty.

Try dumbing-down your printer port setting in the BIOS. If it's at ECP/EPP, try instead bidirectional or standard.

Put together new system. Formatted HD, AT mobo, 95ram, 8mb vid AGP, Have things running great except printer. Lexmark Z22. Checked bios, setting are fine 379/ irq 7. Keeop getting message, can't communicate with printer. Tried uninstalling/installing port and printer software, triple checked board connection. Triple checked everything. Any takers

yes the setting is LPT1 and 378. The only setting I haven't tried is bi directional. I'm starting to believe its the ribbon. I think I,ve tried everything.
