Hello, i just bought a IBM thinkpad 390X used and was wondering if it could be upgraded? And do i have to use IBM parts? I was thinking mainly processor speed and RAM

But you have to watch out since there a lots of different types (they almost look alike) and almost all notebooks have only 2 RAM-sockets. You also can upgrade the CPU in a Laptop but they are pretty hard to get (with the exception of the AMD K6-x+). Of course you can also upgrade you HD and CD-ROM. You CAN'T upgrade the motherboard and the video adapter (mostly integrated into the motherboard). SysOpt.com
