I'm looking for a software program that allows you to scan a form/document and edit or update the information on the form/document. In my profession (Law Enforcement), things are always changing or being updated. It would be nice to find a software program that I can add/delete/update current forms/documents without having to make a completely new one!
Thanks for you help!

We just use Word for that. Create a template for the document, and update as needed..save as a new file.

We use Lotus and create templates as well. The only problem is every once in awhile one of our bright users will save over it. Not a big deal because I can grab it from the backup tape. However, I shouldn't have to.

OCR - Optical Character Recognition.
There are several programs that allow you to scan a document then convert the scanned image into text that can be edited by a word processor.
Scanners usually come with OCR software. I use an older version of Text Bridge (http://www.scansoft.com/products/tbpmill/)
Yahoo!'s OCR software page (http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Computers/Software/Character_Recognition__OCR_ICR_/)

Try Omni Page Pro 10. We use it where i work and it has always worked good for us. We scan different forms and documents and Omni Page works really nice. http://www.caere.com/products/omnipage/pro/
THere is the link to the site. Good luck.
