Just managed to acquire an old viglen 486 genie executive 3dx33. it is i one of those slim line cases with a bouble floppy drive one for the 3 1/4" and onr for 5 1/2" floppies.
Cool http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I want to set it up as a router/firewall for my home network. Problem is it don't boot! AND the buggers had removed the CPU and co processor.
Anyway i got my hands on a couple og 486SX-33's and a DX-33. Now I tried the DX first and it won't boot then it got me thinking about jumpers and what not for cpu settings. Do you need this sort of thing that far back.
the mobo is a viglen p6450A if anyone has any info on it or the computer itself i'd be grateful. Can't let it go to waste.
Cheers

Went back to where i got it and found they still had the original manual which came witht he computer so i found out what it was and got it to boot. It will only take a 486DX33 max which i don't think will be good enough for the router/firewall. But, as luck might have it i pick up a better 486 mobo (with socket 3 ZIF socket and 72pin simm slots) when i got the manual.
Problem is however the same i don't know the make of this board or anything about the junpers for it. It says it is a DT-PCI2 rev:c (well that is the only identifing marks on it) and has a sticker on it saying 4D57926. but i've searched for these on the web and found nothing. Is there any good sites i could go to to see if they can work out what mobo this is.
Cheers

Thanks guys but sadly no joy. Apparently you don't need an FCC stamp on a motherboard. and motherboards.org couldn't find it.
Anyway i'll carry on looking for a bit longer before i throw it.
