It is the hd causing the problems, but I dont know what to do about it.
I ran wd diag disc with no error codes.
I ran virus scan with no infection.
I redid the mbr.

Where's your original post to this problem? You must have click the NewThread button by mistake.

Glad to see new members, btw.

Just find the original post and make a reference to it, so we have more details. :)

Has something in the BIOS changed?

Can you start with the BootDisk?

I get no unusual beeps.

I have not changed any hardware, software, drivers, or any bios changes.

I just turned on the pc and nothing happened.

It is the harddisk, whether it is the harddisk itself or XP causing the failure, because I tried the harddrive in another pc.

I have no boot disk for xp.

I downloaded the bootdisk program from microsoft and made bootable disks, but when I try to run 1st disk I get a I/O error reading disk.

Any suggestions?

 :(

If you can get to the BIOS, try setting it to Defaults.

If you boot and still can't read the floppy drive I'd say it's the mobo.

I reformatted the harddrive on another pc, put it back in my pc and reloaded xp with no problems.

Thanks for all the help.
