yawn! faster ram ahhhhh how borring! nothing new here! direct x9! oh man will be used in (start programming on it) next year maybe and some games which will support it might come out end of 2003.
whats the point of all this? nobody needs this nobody will buy it and no customer will buy it;)
How can faster ram be boring? Thats how Nivida is making the cash on its 150$ GF4200 and its 320$ GF4600. Faster mem means more FPS that = good. 9.0 means better graphics = good.

Yes, but as germanjulian says, no games will support DX 9 for awhile, so there's no benefit.

You buy any 1 of these 3 cards, then by the time a DX9 game comes out these will be too slow to play them, cause even faster cards will be launched uppping game standards once again, I quit this game, where Ihave to keep up with technology, my 8500 will have to do for at least 2more years..... If games want me to play them, they'll keeep their standards at my playable level...... Alll these new video cards comin out, making gaming standards higher, just to make games better looking, jeeeees, I haven't even beat the all the games I won that are from the Voodoo 2 days, now they.............. WOW, i'm way off topic..... Anyways, if this turns into a biching thread I'll continue later.... LOL.....:p

I know most of us will go after it b'caz thats what happenned when Geforce3(DX8) was out and very few games where then made for it..
many would agree...i think....
i don't think anybody would have said somethin like that if NVIDIA brought out somethin new ...so why argue:D

yeah but by the time some games will apear in the horizon which need this nvidia will allready have a new GPU which will be so much better!
i dont have anything ATI except that they are behind the competition or the stuff doesnt work. they should take a break and come out with a new chip when nvidia brings one out! then you could decide which one is better, never mind that ati doesnt deliver decent drivers (i nearly bought the new radeon but i read this thing with the drivers and it put me off)

You are aware that 2 of the 3 new cards are faster than anything nvidia currently has to offer. One is the 9700(non pro) which mops the floor with the 4600 and costs less to boot. The other is the 9500 pro which offers up to twice the speed of the 4600 when AA or AF are involved. Don't even get me started on the 9700Pro.
As for drivers, I have absolutely no driver issues. This is on a per user basis. There are every bit as many stability/compatibility issues with nvidia based cards. It's the nature of the beast and no company is immune.
You're moaning and groaning because they support DX9. News flash: There aren't a grand amount of games that downright require DX 8 features. Does this make everyone that bought a GF3 and later a moron? I don't think so. There are also an enourmous amount of people still using GF2 and weaker cards. These cards will be great upgrades for said people.
I suppose the best question here would be, why are you flaming a news post?

Why not, Plaster? while your comments invites another. That's
why I replied.
Let's admit sometimes we learn from it. People learn from other people. That's why I register with this website. It's how you will handle opinions of other, sarcastic or educational, for me, I learn something from you folks.
It's like two shoe saleman went to a country that people don't wear shoes. The moron salesman went back to his home office and reported that they don't have business in there. while the other one stay and convince people that it's better to wear shoes to protect their feet and lo the guy went home richer.
The answer my friend, it's marketing strategy. You maybe don't know people who post a thread was a saleman of this product. Clear now?
:t :t :t :t :t :
Who knows sysopt forum maybe supported by, what was the name of that company again? JUST KIDDING, FOLKS NO OFFENSE PLEASE.
Whatever, I love this site and I enjoy being here and learn. :t :t :t

nVidia people are just afraid and jealous cuz ATI is now on TOP and has Better Drivers
so all those Old excuses about ATI being bad in drivers and slow speed are no good anymore
and jealous cuz nVidia doesn't have anything that fast yet, and even the beta card has been pushed back for further analysis
and by the time nVidia comes out with the new card, ATI will have already been on Top again already with a newer model :D
the last batch of nVidia 40.x drivers hasn't lived up to its "legacy" of no drivers problem
so there you go all Companies has problem with drivers
and it's all the users fault at the end.
the same goes for Software and not just for hardware, the are Games and Apps that will run fine in one PC and not good in another PC, why, cuz something is wrong with the OS due one or another reason.
so people stop this frames, and fix your problem or jusve live with it, it you can't fix it, if you think it's a hardware issue then just get a new one, as simple as that.
if you want to rant, that's fine, but you don't need to frame. :t :D :p

All of this bickering, and no one has said that people who bought an original Geforce 3, the first DX8 card, is still being well served by it, even in the newest games.

I have a Radeon 9700 PRO and I love it. It keeps my games very fast, and I don't have to worry about upgrading it when DOOM III hits the shelves. So the faster, the better! :r

 If I may venture an opinion, going out and buying the latest and greatest isn't always a good thing. Its kind of funny now that I am in my third year of college now, and I have no desire to upgrade to the latest, most ridiculous video card. If you look at games now, many still run under DX7! There are very few games out that support DX8. And now ATI had to release DX9 supported cards. More power to them, but who in hell is going to have software out to support it yet? Quite simply, games already blaze fast enough with today's cards. I say stay with what you have for a long while yet. I'm quite happy with my Geforce4 Ti 4200, and that is what I'll keep for a few years most likely.

actually sir you just showed how little you know about the gaming industry, while its true when DX9 launches there will be faster hardware around games are as much as 2.5 years behind hardware and ATLEAST 1 year, i mean the new DOOM which if i'm not mistaken will be playable with decent settings on a radeon 8500 or a gefore 4 or any flavor, which are both a bit old (the 8500 is a year and a half old isn't it?) my point: these DX9 capable accelerators won't be slow in most games until DX9 has been out for atleast a year--- its just how the industry works, new hardware is released but game coders have to make games that run well on old hardware so that they have a large base of potential buyers.
bloodhawk you got a #%$ good point, i got my 8500 and i'm keeping it till its about 3 years old before upgrading, and then i will pay a maximum of 150 dollars for a new card, just as i did for the original radeon after it had been out....(and stomped by nvidea) for a while, and just like back in 99 when i grabbed a 1997 model voodoo3 which stayed in my system till mid 2001.
unless you got cash to burn buy last years flagship, keep it for a couple years, then buy midrange again and keep that for a couple years.
allgamer..... umm ati has better drivers? uhh.... i have to disagree with you on that one... granted thier drivers don't suck anymore, and yes NV has become a little sloppy on drivers, but i wouldn't say ati has beaten NV in driver quality yet, the 9700 is totally new, they can't even build on the code base from R200 so obviously there will be issues to be worked out because with something this complex you can't make it perfect the first time, many games do perform 2X as fast at the ti4600, but quite a few do not, which tells me either the CPU is a bottleneck in more games then people are aware of, or ati still has some room to grow.
i'm an ati enthusiast so don't say i'm just blowing nvs horn.
germanjulian,
umm.... what was the date on that thing you read about the drivers? i'd wager some money that its over 6 months or maybe even over a year old, and if that article isn't they authors info is.
as for taking thier time and developing a totally new chip to go at it with, well, i'd say if they didn't do that back with the original radeon, or the 8500, that, that is exactly what they are doing with the new 9700 pro now.
as for having the release in sync
if i recall thats what ati did with the radeon and the radeon 8500, result? nv won both times by a small margin which it slowly increased with driver updates. NV30 will be more powerful then R300, atleast thats what the white paper says, but for now, the day belongs to ati, Q1 2003 NV will return in force, ati does have some things to counter with, will it be enough? only time will tell, but i think its an excellent idea to stager the releases so the while one company releases totally new hardware, the other is refreashing its old hardware instead of both having new releases and refreash release pretty much in sync which was kinda boring, this way it seems that both will be king of the hill for half the year if they both continue as they have been. and while i did say there will be issues to work out.... allgamer is right, so far there haven't been any major ones, which is something NV can't say. and as Duras and Gowron said to one another in star trek:
"one day the Duras family will rule the empire!"
"one day perhaps (smile) BUT NOT TODAY! hahaha"

Thank you for your support Dosmastr. :) At least someone out there has his sanity intact and doesn't think he needs to have the latest and greatest graphic subsystem to play todays games. That good ole' 8500 Rad or Ge TI card works great and that is all you'll need for at least two more years.
