Does anyone have a v.92 modem yet? I wonder how much more they cost over regular v.90 modems.

Roy 03-24-2001, 09:28 AM I've just had an email dialog with Zoom about the fact that my V.90 "upgradable" PCI hardware modem is NOT UPGRADABLE to V.92! I told them I would recommend to MANY (here) to shop elsewhere. They have a new V.92 for $5x.00, and they also sell one with the good ol' Hayes name, which they now own for marketing purposes. That said, I'd like to try a V.92. I think I'll go looking for some reviews. torskdoc 03-24-2001, 03:40 PM Roy: There is a "HACK" for some v.90 to V.92 modems. http://808hi.com/56k/index.htm Go to upgrades and then look for subject V.92.... Larry atari2000x 03-24-2001, 09:20 PM I've heard that your ISP has to support the V.92 standard, or else it will just work like a V.90 modem......Contact your ISPs before upgrading....... AndreRIO 03-24-2001, 10:10 PM what is a v.92 modem? Underclocked 03-25-2001, 07:18 AM 3Com has a growing list of firmware upgrades to V.92 available. Unfortunately, neither of mine is on the list. Go to www.v92.com (http://www.v92.com) for a little info on the subject. SysOpt.com
