Variable 03-24-2001, 10:05 AM No ideas? No experiences? That is almost unbelievable... Zotzmein 03-24-2001, 02:29 PM Am I correct in assuming that you want to create a secure environment/gateway through an .asp run intranet or internet server? Do you have root access to the entire server or is this simply a web account through a hosting company? You might try Vision Cube's .asp based security script, it's pretty simple to setup and fairly robust: http://www.nodei.com/aspwatch/secured/ Also visit http://www.aspin.com/ they have a great deal of information on .asp, not to mention a lot of helpful users who do nothing but work, sleep and dream active server pages. I know this isn’t as useful as a direct answer but maybe it will guide you to those who know better. Try this little ditty from the folks over at ZDNET: http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stories/info/0,,000M3Q,.html It's called Password Keeper, it allows you to collect all your classified information and store it in a highly encrypted virtual vault on you computer. Thus you reduce the multitude of passwords, pin numbers and other clandestine information to a minimum, reducing your need for recall to a singular entry. They have several programs similar to the one above, simply peruse the assortment of security programs and find one that fits your specific needs. Zotzmein 03-24-2001, 04:20 PM Actually I’m sort of an odd ball. I have a thick handy dandy notebook, yes it’s blue, and no it’s not because of Blue’s Clues. The oldest entry dates in this particular notebook to June 1994, which I think, pre-dates Blue’s Clues. In my little personalized tome you will find chicken scratch, which looks like passwords, but in fact it’s my own personal code which when translated identifies a shelf, book, chapter and paragraph. You can’t see but directly behind my computer is a series of midsize bookcases that roughly hold two to three hundred or so books. Once deciphered, follow the instruction to the exact place in the referenced book and you’ll find written (albeit in minuscule fashion) the desired data. There some obvious drawbacks, first if you crack one of my codes, you’ve laid open the entire lot, meaning I have one unique way in which I’ve encoded all things. No variables, no randomization, fairly minimal in its integrity. Second, credit cards have a certain number of numerical places and contain within the account number an identifier, which someone with the knowledge can tell from whom the credit card was issued. Similar to vehicle identification numbers on automobiles, which if you know how to translate, include such information as make, model and year of manufacture (I think that’s in relation to post 1978 vehicles?). Third, if my eyesight grows much worse, I may not be able to read the information myself. Fourth, all the information (in the books) is written in pencil, lead has a tendency to fade with time. I could continue but I’m sure by this point your already fighting the boredom. I know this all sounds incredibly time consuming and overly complex for something so inherently flawed. If you read my profile I think you’ll find it fits within my nature. That said, my answer to your question: No, I don’t have one to specifically recommend. Warmest Regards, Zotz Mein Variable 03-25-2001, 02:32 AM Hey, if this works for you it is cool with me. And thank you very much for your help. SysOpt.com
