I bought two 3C3298 from http://www.teamexcess.com to try them out. They are $25 bucks apiece. Shipping on one is a bit high at 11.xx to MO. but two only added pennies to shipping cost.
Posting this here because of my results. I installed one along with my 3Com 5687-03 hardware modem to see how they compared. The isa modem connects at a reported 48-49.2 while the PCI modem connects at a steady 48.
The drivers are hard to find so if you happen to get one of these modems, make sure you download the drivers from Dell (called the A4Hawk modem at Dell).
I'm running the modem in Windows 2000.
Just thought this might be of interest to those searching for a reasonably priced pci hardware modem.
