recommendations-please-for a good basic soundcard to be used for web browsing and playing of music cdroms thru 4 speaker subwoofer system---no gaming.

want to spend less tha $75 if poossible!

Soundblaster PCI512 can be had for around 47$ ,SB Live value 70$ both use the Live series chip so you save CPU cycles.

either the soundblaster PCI512 or live like Mykex mentioned above will be the perfect choice for ya.

both are excellent cards at a very reasonable price.

I would go with the SB Live! Value oem (even cheaper). It's a great card at a very reasonable price.

The PCI 512 is as good as the live card, it just does not have all the features of the Live. They both use the same Synthesizer Chip the EMU 10K1.
