i recently ordered new 1.2ghz tbird. my question is.. will my old asus a7v could handle it?

I just put together a system with a T-Bird 1.2 gig/266FSB on the A7V HT133A/266FSB and you'll love it... just make sure you get very high quality ram to put in it.
I'm not configured for RAID using the Promise controller, but I do have my 2 HDs connected to the Promise controller as Ultra DMA 5 and it is almost 60% faster than ATA 66 according to Norton drive benchmarks.
As long as you use a good CPU cooler you should be in good shape, you might get a utility called MBProbe 1.22 http://web.bham.ac.uk/jst829/mbprobe which works well with the A7v and closely matches the CPU temperature values that you see in the Bios.
