hi,

I posted a laptop for sale on Ebay and this individual sent me an email told me that he would sent out the payment using paypal. He told me to ship overnite to his grandson as a birthday present on last Friday. I said okay, then he pay me using paypal. He didn't want to have the signature sign by anyone except to leave the package outside the door so his grandson have it as a surprise when he arrived home from school. I told him okay too. He paid me using paypal, and i shipped overnite using Airborne Express without getting any signature. Then 2 days ago he called up his credit card, and paypal reversed my transaction. I emailed him back asking him to pay me for the reversed amount that paypal took from my account. He said okay, he'll do it the next day that's today. I emailed him back today and he told me that he was about to paypal me but his grandson said he never received my laptop. Now today (4 days later) he's claiming that his grand son never received the package?. What the heck? What should i do? I already sent paypal the tracking number, but don't know what paypal going to do with the money. Any idea would help? I told him that i would take him to court if he won't pay me back the money.

This is the person's claim to be grandson:

email: epsonstyle11@aol.com

ebay: swissupply@aol.com

he changed his username in couple of week ago.

Do you still have the info on the computer? If so contact the local police in your area and the locals in the area the laptop was shipped, plus the locals for Epsonsyle11's home. Could be that he had it shipped to a neighbors or friends house and then grabbed it right after it was delivered. Too bad it was shipped USPS cause then it would be a felony. Not that you want to hear this but there is no way I would ship something like that without getting a sig. Even if it was a neighbors. Does the tracking number show it being delivered?

What is the guy's name, address, Email-- give it to us and lets send him some fun letters.
My Dog takes a huge ***** twice a day that I have been meaning to find a good place to put it..

What about Ebay, what do they say! Is there an Ebay forum--?

This is the stuff that scares the c**p out of me about Ebay-- how can you 'unpay' Paypal?

This is why, even as an IT professional, I am leery of buying off auction sites. I don't think that I can do it... the randomness and uncertainty is quite a large factor.

I shipped using airborne express. I should have known better not to insure on this big laptop. That's why i kinda hate paypal now a day. Before i paid someone using paypal and that person never ship out my stuff. I called them up they investigate for a couple of weeks then sent me an email telling me that it was the other guys fault but he had insurficient fund in his account. What the heck?

first off if it had no delivery confirmaiton there is not too much you can do.

Secondly, Always ship using the USPS because if something like this does happen you can contact the postmaster general and press mail fraud charges.

Lastly, you are just screwed if you didnt have any kind of delivery confirmation. It can be delivered and he can just say he doenst have it. Plain and simple. The Local police will tell you they cannot do anything with out some type of delivery confirmation with a signature.

Also, giving out this mans information is a felony, and anyone that is stupid enough to send him letters, or call him, etc. could have charges brought up against them for harrassment. If your that stupid, oh well.

Next time you know better.

Also as far as the court thing goes, you could do that. But an interstate claim such as this would cost you thousands of dollars and may end up just getting turned down.

If you read my thread closely i mentioned that i did have the tracking number from Airborne Express but w/o the signature because he asked me not to have the signature but just leave the package outside the house. Now he emailed me and promise that he would send me a M.O tomorrow before he's off to work, and overnite it to me. I want to see, if he can keep up his promise. I'll let you guys know the status. Thanks.

So what if you do, unless you are an attorney hired by the person that was ripped off, he cannot give you any personal information on this transaction.

Have you looked up the phone # for the name and address it was delivered to? Give them a call and tell them that somebody used their address for fraudulent purposes. Or maybe it's his address. Also you do have a shipping receipt from the carrier and his emails requesting that delivery be made as such. And then you have the fact that he did make a payment to paypal only to later have it charged back. I would submit those emails to paypal along with the receipt for the carrier that proves you met your obligations to this person and shows the shady intent of that cretin. Plus if this is his usual motis operandi, paypal and his credit card compnay will see that. Belive me. both paypal(who is now owned by ebay) and the credit card company both have fraud depts. And if you get someplace with e-bay submit the results to aol. Maybe time warner wont be happy with somebody that uses their services to commit fraud.

I could say of some things you can send him, but I'll get thrown in prison for it :D

I sure do miss the right to go down on a crooked thief and shoot him in the knees so he can kneel before you as you blow his brains out :)

Doneedlove sorry to hear what happend but i share your anger.I recently got taken to at an Ebay auction item #2065278935 Granted it was only $23.00 for a AMD CPU. Hey ok this guy has 8 thousand plus feedbacks to my 71 so i thought good deal.Sent money PayPal. Now i join the 261 other negative feedback leavers he has. So i complained to Ebay found their user Forum posted a comment about the auction now there is a lil click of friends ripped off by him. So i posted a buyer beware about him on Ebays forum. I get a Email from Ebay stating i may be in violation of their forums policies aint that the ****s he rips people off and i said so in a nice mannor and i am in violation. Ebay forwared me to their policy site and they say that they cannot force someone to send their item if they dont want to. Hell after 261 negative feedbacks they should have kicked him off. But i guess he is paying their fees for his 8 thousand plus auctions. So why should they give a ****. Their not getting ripped off, But let him not pay them their fees and see how fast they move.Any help on getting this guy investagated would make about 261 people happy. Thanks
