thats right. a virus called CIH wasted my mobo. i was quite happy with my asus k7v and athlon classic 750@1000.. they were only 8months old too. so i ended up upgrade my system to tbird 1.2ghz and asus a7v.
i don't want to talk about how i got the virus i don't even want to think about it.

what i want to know is how to completely clean virus from my harddisk. i did the clean formatting. virus progs dont detect any viruses anymore but i have this feeling that it might hide somewhere even clean install can't reach. anyone have any idea what else i should do? sorry about my english and thanks in advance.

Try f-prot, the free avp utility for dos. In dos you can clean the windows in use files also. If it doesn't detect it, then you don't have it. www.f-secure.com (http://www.f-secure.com)
-M

Viruses can survive a format. You need to boot from a clean floppy and use "fdisk /mbr". this will get rid of any viruse that has hidden in the aster Boot Record. After that all should be fine.

Virus will definitly survive a format! What Lebo said!
Also enable your cmos/bios virus protection too.
USE NO USED FLOPPY'S
Virus's love them!
