I've been using it for over 9 mos it seems to have no bad effects on my comp .I have not had a virus (touch wood) in this time so how it deals with them is still unknown.

I've used it for about a year,, always been good to me,, has update reminders. I contracted the bug bear worm. But that was partly my own stupidity. I sent it to my A drive and scanned it with avg they said it was clean, and it wasn't. But like I say I'm not blaming AVG,, it was my own stupidity.. I knew there was something wrong with that stupid E-mail....!!!!!
Just make sure you run the update feature on it,, they come out with regular updates all the time... Good luck..

It's been an install standard for any pc I've built or owned for years. And any friend I've reomended it to has thanked me.

Its pretty good yeah, and most importantly free... my only concerns are that it doesnt autoupdate itself, even though i have set it up to, and it doesnt appear to be scanning my emails in OE6 :(

AVG's site says E-mail is protected by running scanning without your knowledge.

RE: I find that it is automatic, provided you have the Internet "ON". It operates automatically at the time you have scheduled the update.

Incidently, latest update is available today, October 24, 2002.

fI've been very happy and a big fan of AVG - smaller, doesn't seem to hog resources, updates are a breeze and it's FREE.

But found one trojan backdoor.ultors by running a trojan scanner port check (neither of my trojan scanners ever detected it) - went online and did the free trendscan and symantec online virus scans and found two instances of another virus too.

These are older and I'm wondering why AVG didn't see them? So from now I'm gonna rely on AVG and once a month use the others - a pretty good idea to play it safe with 3 kids and me on a LAN all over the place looking for game cheats, ahem, I mean doing their homework just like Mom told 'em to? :)

been using it for about a year now with no virus problems, i dont think it actually stops the E-Mail virus's but it sure lets you know about it, of course i may be wrong cause i never got one

Well, just remember, its better then the POS otherwise known as Mcafee

Thats the one that came with my Gateway a few years ago, and man, does the thing suck!!!

Ive used Norton, that works much nicer.

And AVG is nice, and its free, so dont expect the absolute best outa it
