Does anyone have any suggestions for a Prog. I can download from the net that will protect my folders and files from being accessed from other users? I'm on a networked computer @ a library, and i have some files that I don't want accessed. I'd like this prog. to be free, thanks for any help!

If your in a networked library environment can I assume you may have a switch or router some where in your network topology?
If you do, would it be possible to ask the network administrator to put you behind a firewall or on a controlled access list? - This would disable certain network nodes or functions from accessing your personal computer. And it would be infinitely more secure than any program you could install.

There aren't free programs that protect that don't have counterparts that unprotect. If this computer is on a Novell network or Microsoft Domain, you should save the information to a restricted share on the network (this is very easy for your admin to setup). It's best to use the network to store your data, then only the admins and yourself have access. If you are running 2000, you can encrypt the data and restrict access permissions locally.

I apologize for not making myself more clear...this is one computer I chose to use that's alongside others in a computer lab...I've downloaded some programs such as Zone Alarm, and a few games also...This computer is at a school, so what I want to do is prevent anyone else but me from accessing specific folders. Now the only thing I can do is go under Properties and set the folder's attributes to "Hidden" that way they can't see it, but I'd like to be able to prevent access to these folders in the event that someone is smart enough to change the folder's attributes.

Now, if anyone has any suggestions, thanks.
