Just installed a new mobo (KT3 Ultra 2) and for some reason its not reading my floppy drive. Ive tried a new cable, but still nowt. The lights on, but its not reading.
Device manager says its ok, but obviously its not. Any ideas.

Try flipping the cable around on the drive. The red stripe towards the outside of the drive (away from the power).

If the light is on the whole time then the cable isn't lined up with pin one.
Ok, on the floppy drive's data cable there should be a red stripe that runs down the right side. That represents pin 1 on the data cable, when you plug it into the floppy drive controller on the motherboard, you have to match pin 1 from the cable to pin 1 on the controller. And the same thing the other way around.
Hope that helps :t

this is a really common problem. everyone says put pin1 by the power for hdds and cdroms, but floppies are just wacky like that.
