A friend of mine just went to Best Buy to get 1-32 meg SDRAM PC100, but when he got home, he found it was actually a 128 meg sdram (why can't I have that kind of luck!!!) But now he isn't sure if it's the 66 or 100 (I offered to trade him a 32 -100 for it).
Is there some kind of marking he can look for?

There should be a sticker right on the chip.
PC100 XXX XXX for PC100
Or you could check out these links for more info:

There's also a small utility called DIMM ID that you can use to identify PC100 spec, I don't have the link, but will email it you if you want it.

Thanks for the replies. That utility pgm won't be necessary tho. I'm sure he can figure it out on his own http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Ive got a stranger reverse messed up luck story. Well I went out to a comp show, and got a stick of what i thought was 64mb PC100
It had a sticker on it (no doubt supplyed by the seller) saying 64MB PC100 DIMM on it. I brought it home and chugged it though sandra and it tells me its PC66. So im like "HEY I GOT JIPPED!!" Course i didnt keep the reciept since it worked ok. So..after misses and trials of overclocking I actually got this PC66 on a 133 FSB machine working. Im not sure whether i got ripped off or not...I frankly dont care right now http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
BTW I didnt see any "66" anywhere on the DIMM, which i thought would have been on it. I also have a true PC100 and on it are the numbers "00" in one of the spec numbers
