Problem : I want to browse using Mozilla 1.0 behind a M$ Proxy server. But MS Proxys does not allow any browser except IE to hand shake/authenticate via NTLM. This effectively blocks any other browser assessing port 80/http. :mad: :confused:

Requirement : Is there a way around this from the client side. :r

Restrictions : The MSProxy is on a corporate network and hence cannot be accessed by me. Any solution should be implementable on the client side. The network is an NT4.0 network. Client is an NT4.0 work station. Administrator rights available on the client machine.

Thanks in advance...
With Best regards to all...:)

did you enter the Proxy address and port 80 in the Advance field for proxy settings?

just copy and paste whatever setting you have in the IE connection screen to there

:t

Mozilla does work with MS Proxy

the only difference is that you'll have to manually type in the user name and password

Tried it, it dosen't ask for authentication, but this is what it says...

<snip>
HTTP Error 407

407 Proxy Authentication Required

You must authenticate with a proxy server before this request can be serviced. Please log on to your proxy server, and then try again.

Please contact the Web server's administrator if this problem persists.
</snip>

I have the MSProxy client loaded on the workstation, so when I try to browse without the proxy, I get an error saying 'connection refused'.

well that should be expected

that's how MS Proxy Server/Client works

if you don't log in of course you'll not connect

Does it work if you connect the client first?

Well that is the problem...
There no login/password screen presented at all... it directly jumps to this error. The client connects in the background automatically during NT login, I am able to FTP from my workstation... but no go using Mozilla. :(
